A moment to be humble: I am not as in tune with ‘people’ as I thought. The violence was predicted yes, but not when I thought. Just two days earlier than the ‘caux’ (faux coup – geddit?), the leader of the proud boy’s movement had been arrested for property violations. Finally, after several deaths in Kenosha and multiple militaristic protests, the alt-right landed upon the one thing that cops can’t tolerate: property damage.
So the Alt-Right and the cops split up (but not before getting a selfie). I believe this is what has changed the phase of political violence in the US – to a degree.
So the Capitol was stormed, etc etc. Nothing was going to happen, because the individuality that allows such violence also prevents any coalescing of interests on the Alt right.
More interesting however is the Democratic response.
Section 25? Impeachment? Isn’t this what left and centre nuts have been worried about? Trump leaves office, Pence takes over, Pence forgives Trump of any and all current, past and future Federal crimes (the presidential pardon being too overpowered a skill for even advanced DnD-ers).
So – why? And why now when lame ducks are aptly named?

The impeachment of Trump was interestingly timed – you could shoot a variety of arrows at him, but the Dems decided, if any was to strike true, it would probably be the one with ‘he’s a security risk to America’ written on it.
But the media had his back – we now know the extent of double think when imposed from FOX. Like the bastardisation ‘I could care less’, we little Englishers are going to get very riled over a lot of ‘squid-pro-quo”s flying around the internet in the next few years.
What should have been ‘he almost screwed Ukraine to get ahead’ became ‘yeah but Biden’s worse’ – somehow, and with no proof. After a couple of weeks of that on full blast, even Gitmo guests would think of voting for Trump, lest B-B-Biden came to office.
With those kind of friends friends lifting you up, who can even see their enemies any more?
And with the DoJ firmly in the Trumpine circle, even Mike ‘Lazarene’ Flynn got a second chance at political death.
All that is left is…. actual attempted seddition.
Except, that was a pretty poor showing. Even the limey’s got a chance at burning something down on the last ‘Grand-Theft-Authority’ rampage in DC, 206 years ago. So it’s not insurrection, it’s imbeciles.
But the one thing that Trump’s media could not protect against is not just one Flynn, it is a host – all sliding into random Russian’s DM’s offering to sell away their country for a sweet slice of feeling like a someone.
The view of the public, the horror and disgust from every pore, Republican and Democrat – is changing already. The conspiracies have begun- a bus of Antifa protestors, secreted into the midst of their manxom foe, garbed in Anglo-Saxon (fake) fur helms led that fabled charge.
Obviously.
So Pelosi must move quickly to take advantage of events before they are shrouded in half-truths. And she has gone for the jugular. Turn the cabinet against Trump (not a chance- the DeVos’ of this world cannot stand – they have no backbone, see?) or impeach. An impeachment conviction would require 2/3 of the senate. That’s a lot of republicans to turn.
But this event is the perfect catalyst to seperate the Romney’s from the Cruz’s. This is the moment when honest republicans are at their least partisan. The impeachment doesn’t matter, the split among republicans does.
So goes their hope: Trump’s team will try and form a tea-party type offshoot (so the political reeds are whistling), and the rest are left to throw bales over the side of the Lucitania. A house divided cannot stand, after all.
Maybe it will pay off – probssibly. But whatever comes out of the dank hole which the Donald has rent in American political life (and FOX news – mostly FOX news) will be nothing short of the fascist love child Buzz Windrip and Mussolini were too un-charismatic to conceive together.
This is not the outcome Trump’s backers wanted, and it’s not the one they fought so hard for. Thick and thin, rain and pain, they stopped Trump from falling. The one microscopic death-star-plan sized hole? His supporters, live on TV – and with the doors to the Capitol, the hope of Trump donors everywhere that 2020 is a COVID-caused Democrat ‘blip’…
…came crashing down. Let’s hope there’s no ‘again’.
